My Story

Art has always been a constant companion in my life. It has never really been centre stage, though I often wished it. Growing up, I was lucky enough to have parents that encouraged mess and creativity at every opportunity, whether that was writing, painting or drawing. I remember friends coming over and revelling in the opportunity and encouragement to make a mess, and my mum being much more interested in my pieces than the paint on the carpet!!

What I'm Doing

Fun of Experiment

sketchbooking

I love mixed media and the fun of experimenting. There is something magical in not quite knowing how materials will interact and relate. Collage makes the parts, when added together, sing. The tactile nature of contrasting textures and visual richness it can bring can make time slide away in a sticky, glorious mess!

Finding my families’ work and treasures from our life together was bringing it into the light and evidencing their brilliance - which felt good! Part of my sketchbook habit is still about creating a visual of grief’s journey and how to navigate it - how to sit with the dark and light simultaneously.
Bird Collages

Mad about Birds

To create birds and images from the natural surroundings is to really look and see for often the first time. While I am creating my birds, I feel that I am slowing down to absorb the details of beauty - I often don’t want the piece to be finished as I am enjoying the process so much.

Workshops

My workshops have an emphasis on the process and enjoying the ‘flow state’. I offer a range of workshops covering gelli-printing, collage and slow stitch projects. I keep group sizes small, so that I can support everyone and so that we can freely exchange ideas.

If you would like a bespoke workshop as a celebration or just for the fun of getting together, please contact me directly to discuss possibilities!
